Most celebrities love controversies and some even go as far as creating publicity stunts to get in the news.
But the moment a controversy is sex related, it threatens the celeb’s career and everything around them, including their families, friends and colleagues. Over the years, the Nigerian entertainment industry has had its fair share of sex scandals.
Wizkid’s alleged sex tape
In 2011, Wizkid was reported to have been arrested in Scotland with drugs and a sex tape appeared on the internet. The sex tape, which went viral, showed a Wizkid lookalike in a sexual act with an older white woman.
He denied being in the video. ‘I think you are either blind or stupid if you ask me about the tape,’ he wrote on Twitter at the time. He also released a song titled ‘It Wasn’t Me’ to clear up all the rumours about him.
Mo’cheedah and Eldee’s Twitter nude picture drama
This came like a thief in the night. The deed was done in the dead of the night and by morning it blew up, threatening the career of then princess of hiphop, Modupe Oreoluwa Oyeyemi a.k.a Mo’cheddah, and the home of married music veteran Lanre Dabiri A.K.A Eldee the Don.
On Monday, October 3, 2011, a funny conversation between Mo’cheedah’s Twitter account and that of Eldee’s occurred. ‘If people here with us see it, just say one of the guys also in the hotel posted it to you,’ the tweet from Eldee’s Twitter handle to Mo’cheedah, read.
What followed after was shocking: a nude picture of a Mo’cheedah look alike was posted by her Twitter account to Eldee’s handle.
It sparked up a whirlwind of controversy the next morning as it became a trending topic on social media and the entertainment blogsphere. Was Eldee having an extra-marital affair with Mo’cheedah? Why was she sending him nude photos? Who hacked their accounts? The questions came from everywhere.
Both stars denied these allegations, insisting there were hacked.
9ice, Toni Payne and Ruggedman’s love triangle
This started with just a song.
After separating from his wife of almost two years in 2010, 9ice, in a song titled ‘Once bitten twice shy’ (the 9th track off his album ‘Tradition’), sang about catching his lover giving his friend ‘nodding’.
With the song, another sex scandal was born and a deluge of allegations and rumours followed.
Ruggedman was featured in the drama, with many alleging that he was the friend mentioned in the song. Ruggedman and Payne insisted it was false but at that time no one cared to listen.
It took six years for 9ice to officially speak on the issue and exonerate all parties involved.
The Wande Coal nude photo
In 2010, out of the blues, a nude photo of Wande Coal popped up on the internet.
His then record label, Mo’hits Records, released a statement insisting that the photo was fake and altered by an ‘enemy’ trying to bring down the singer.
Fans didn’t believe and Wande Coal’s career suffered the consequences.
Chidinma Ekile’s sex tape
Fans were stunned when a sex tape of a Chidinma look-alike leaked on the internet in 2013.
The girl in the sex tape displayed top notch sexual performances, too top notch for our own church chorister music star, Chidinma many argued.
In an interview with HipTV, rapper Illbliss, defended her ‘All she did was cry her eyes out, saying ‘I’m only a small girl; I’ve not wronged anybody, why will anyone do this to me?’
It was later found out the girl in the video was not Chidinma.
Ese Walter and COZA Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo’s sex affair
This allegation of infidelity from blogger and radio presenter Ese Walter, was made in a 3000-word article in which she detailed her affair with her pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Abuja branch of CommonWealth Of Zion Assembly was perhaps the biggest scandal of 2013.
Ese accused the pastor of manipulating her sexually and spiritually.
Less than a month after Ese’s revelations, another lady, Franca E, also wrote an open letter alleging that the pastor asked her for sex.
This scandal was beyond the entertainment industry; it was huge and controversial. Yet, the accused, Pastor Fatoyinbo remained mute on the issue.
Obesere rape scandal
Years after, Obesere is yet to recover from this sex scandal that threatened his career.
Obesere was accused of rape by his lover Olanike Olaiya. The fuji singer however insisted he was innocent, a claim which has fortunately been verified by police investigations.
Timaya rape scandal
Timaya was on the lips of many for his new found fashion style and his meeting with Rihanna which got us all envious. But all that quickly got relegated to the background after he got involved in a rape scandal involving an American-based singer, Shella B.
Timaya allegedly slept with the Nigeria-American lady on July 18, 2015 just three days after welcoming his second daughter with his baby mama, Barbara. And that’s how he found himself headlining the biggest sex scandal of 2015.
2face caught kissing baby mama
2face Idibia began the year 2015 on a controversial note when he was photographed kissing one of his baby mamas.
The father of seven was pictured all loved up, kissing and cuddling Pero Adeniyi who gave birth to three of the superstar’s children.

With the social media space thrown into a frenzy, 2face simply reacted to the news by reiterating his love for his wife, Annie Idibia in an Instagram post captured ‘Love you till I die’.
