Was 2face‘s life threatened so terribly? Did certain people dear to his heart implore him not to go ahead with the protest march?
Whatever the case is, his decision to ‘cancel’ the march should not mean Nigerians still cannot go out to firmly voice their grievances against the things they want to see change for better.
We need to constantly remind ourselves of these issues and put consistent pressure on those in the position to do the right thing to do just that.
What are those things?
1. The naira is making friends with the wrong dollar

There is dollar and there is dollar. The naira goes for ₦498 to a US dollar (forget what the official rate says) which basically means our currency is behaving like Zimbabwean dollar.
This is evident in the price of commodities that keep going up or have seen their quantity (and quality) gravely reduced to try keeping them affordable.
That’s just tragic!
2. We still struggle for fuel and power supply in this oil-producing country of ours

How much do you spend on fuel per week? I know how much I spend and it’s not a joking stuff.
Petrol is selling for ₦145 per litre, fantastic. Can power supply be improved so we don’t have to be spending so much on fuel?
If pump price of fuel can’t go down, then Nigerians should be seeing an improvement in power supply at least.
3. Your salary

Commodity prices are disobeying gravity but the salary of Nigerians is being so obedient to gravity.
How do the powers that be expect the working masses to even survive with such reality?
These are people with responsibilities and have children – the future of our nation – to raise.
And if they are not earning well, they won’t be able to provide well for our future.
4. For the people with no jobs

The last point was talking about the hardship on people with jobs, imagine how hard life is for those without a job or business to sustain themselves?
It then becomes key for us to still come out and let the government know that we’re absolutely not satisfied with the state of the nation.
Or, you want to remain jobless?
5. Your health

Health truly is wealth, otherwise if you had to treat yourself of one ailment regularly, there won’t be much or any money left to enjoy life.
Not as many people that should have access to proper healthcare have it. Plus, a lot of the public hospitals around that should be a point of affordable access can’t provide that care as well as they should due to lack of equipment, funding, staff and more.
Small time now, we’ll hear another set of medical practitioners going on strike for some reason; at the expense of ailing Nigerians.
6. Quality education

To get education, problem. You get the education in this country, it’s still a problem because a Bachelors Degree is not enough to get you that plum job these days.
Thus, one now has to get a Masters Degree; preferably from the abroad, and all boils down to spending money you don’t have for a job that’s barely available.
Everyone, or a majority at least, should be able to get quality education without spending a dime or a fortune.
However, quality education is becoming a luxury and we all need to put a check on it or else we’ll have to produce big cheques to get our children to good kindergarten schools; not to talk of university.
7. Our country’s future

The good ol’ days were the good ol’ days, but when we’re old and grey, will we want the young ones to refer to our time right now as ‘the good ol’ days’ too?
May the days of our children and their children be much better than our day.
And that can only be if we grow some balls and come out to march! It’s the starter pack of our development.
