On Saturday, August 13, 2011, writers, readers and book pundits will gather for the Jalaa Writers Book Reading featuring Jude Dibia, Odili Ujubuonu, Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo, Uche Umez and Igoni Barrett.
According to Jalaa Writers’ Collective, organisers of the event, the book reading would be ‘an opportunity for the writers to interact with their readers, to read from their works and answer questions pertaining to publishing in Nigeria and the idea behind the whole writers’ collective.
The event is billed to hold at the Freedom Park, Broad Street, opposite General Hospital, Lagos. Time check is 3pm.
Jalaa Writers’ Collective was created in 2009 by 10 Nigeria-based writers who came together in an effort to tackle the book production and distribution challenges of the local publishing industry. The collective aims to engage ‘the weaknesses of the industry by pooling the talent, resources and experience of its members in a systematic and profit-oriented manner’.
