1. Yogurt
Yogurt is an extract of milk which contains many nutrients, one of which is lactic acid that has lightening properties.
Method
Gently apply plain yogurt on your face and neck. Leave it on for a few minutes then wash it off with warm water. Do this once a day for several weeks until you notice a change in your complexion.
Alternatively, mix a tablespoon of fresh yogurt with one and a half table spoon of honey. Apply the paste to your face and neck regions. Leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off with warm water. Do this daily to improve your skin tone.
2. Orange
Orange is one of the richest sources of vitamin C which is a very essential vitamin for skin lightening. This is because Vitamin C fights against free radicals which damage the skin. Orange also helps in inhibiting the production of melanin in the body as that is the pigment which is responsible for dark complexion.
Method
Pour some natural orange juice and turmeric powder in a bowl. Mix till it forms a paste then apply paste on your face, neck, hands and legs before you go to bed. Leave it overnight and wash with water the next morning.
3. Tomatoes
Tomatoes have enough natural lightening and rejuvenation properties such as Vitamin A, B, C, potassium, calcium to name a few.
Method
Blend one tomato to a fine paste. Apply the mixture over your skin and leave it for 20 minutes then rinse it off with warm water. Also drinking tomato juice every morning could help achieve a lighter look. Another method would be to mix few drops of fresh lemon juice in 1 tablespoon of tomato juice then apply the mixture over the skin and let it set for 15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water followed by cold water. Repeat the process three times a week.
4. Pawpaw
I dare to say Pawpaw itself has a beautiful colour! It contains natural bleaching properties and the various nutrients in it are agents which make your skin glow. Either eating or applying pawpaw to your skin could help you achieve your desired light skin tone. Pawpaw also helps in skin detoxification which is what leaves your skin not just lighter, but brighter.
Method
Blend a few pieces of pawpaw into a fine paste and apply over the face. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. Repeat it 2-3 times a week.
Pawpaw could also be used with honey. Blend some pawpaw into a smooth paste. Add 1 tablespoon of honey into the paste and mix properly.
Wash your skin then apply the paste. Leave for 15 minutes then rinse with water.
5. Lemons
Lemons acidic properties work as a natural lightening agent and it contains a high amount of vitamin C which helps in the growth of new cells in the skin. Lemons also contain antioxidants.
Note: Lemons are highly acidic hence if you have a skin injury, it is advisable not to use the lemon recipe as it could cause pain to your injury. Also, if you have a sensitive skin, it is advisable to make use of another natural ingredient other than lemon.
Method
Mix three teaspoons of natural lemon juice with turmeric powder. Apply the mixture on the skin and leave it for 30 minutes before washing it off with warm water. Do this daily.
