Christy Essien-Igbokwe was a bundle of talent. She used her voice to touch lives through film and music.
She was a true Nigerian who sang songs in Igbo, Ibibio, Efik, Hausa, Yoruba, and English, breaking tribal boundaries. During her lifetime, she affected many lives with her NGO, Essential Child Care Foundation. Even in death, her songs like ‘Seun Rere’, continue to remind us to be our best selves.
Nigeria’s Lady of Songs died on June 30, 2011, but she will always be remembered for using her art to bring joy and light to many.
Rest in Peace!
