35 years after they first performed at the ‘Surulere Nite Club’, veteran Juju singers King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi are set to thrill their numerous fans at a live band concert.
The concert, which has been tagged ‘Oleku’, will hold at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island, on Children’s Day, May 27 and will be hosted by screen veteran Baba Sala and long-time highlife singer Fatai Rolling Dollar.
‘This is a good development for the industry and the first in about 35 years when the two of us will play together’, KSA said.
‘We have been looking forward to who will broker this type of show. Now it is time for us to celebrate. I pray to celebrate my own 70 years on earth like my brother, Ebenezer Obey. I will be celebrating him while he will also be celebrating me. We thank God for this day and I can tell you that this show is real’, he added.
The concert, which will be shown live on select TV stations, also marks KSA’s 50 years on stage and Obey’s 70th birthday.
We’re told the event is being put together by the Otunba Deji Osibogun-led WTS Broadcast Limited, and the proceeds will go to UNICEF sponsored charities.
A similar concept, ‘ One night stand’ promoted last year and billed to hold at the Eko Hotels inLagos, failed to hold.
