For this weekend, these are three events you should look forward to.
1. MTV Africa Music Awards
Date: Saturday, October 22
Venue: Ticket Pro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Host: Bonang Matheba
Organisers of the annual awards show recently confirmed the South African TV girl as this year’s host.
Trevor Noah, who was announced as host earlier, has been dropped due to a severe upper respiratory and ear infection he’s fighting.
Performing acts: US rapper Future joins previously announced African performers Diamond, Emtee, Kwesta, Patoranking Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee and Yemi Alade.
2. 3 thrones concert
Date: Sunday October 23
Venue: EKO Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Disc Jockeys on duty: DJ Jimmy Jatt and DJ Neptune
Performing acts: Phyno, Davido and Tiwa Savage have been announced to headline the concert.
They will be sharing stage with the likes of Yung L, Yung6ix, Dice Ailes, Pepenazi, Tjan, Terry Apala, Wale Turner, and Base One.
3. One Africa Music Fest Houston Invasion
Date: Saturday, October 22
Venue: Houston Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Host: Banky W
Performing acts: Olamide, Tekno, 2face Idibia, D’banj, P-Square, J Martins, Flavour, Seyi Shay, Skales, Reekado Banks, Kcee, Harrysong and Vector.
Others expected to perform include, Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee, Ghana’s Efya and Angolan music star Cabosnoop.
