Nigerian Olympians – Blessing Okagbare and Efe Ajagba – have lost out in their respective competitions at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Okagbare dropped out of contention in the women’s 200m after clocking 22.69secs to finish fifth in Heat 1 of the semi-finals.
Her last hope of winning a medal is the women’s 4x100m relay scheduled for Thursday, August 18.
Boxer Efe Ajagba is also out after suffering a quarterfinal knockout by Ivan Dychko in the Men’s super-heavy over 91 kg category, with the Kazakhstan boxer now up against Great Britain’s Joe Joyce for a place in the gold medal bout.

Meanwhile, despite little to no government support, viral Nigerian internet sensation Ejowvokoghene Oduduru is set to challenge overwhelming favourite Usain Bolt for the men’s 200m gold, if he succeeds in his semi-final race tonight.
