Before entertainment programming became a round-the-clock phenomenon – you can get content on NET TV and stream music from Orin.ng all day – there was a time that such programming was once a week and Dare Art Alade was a triple threat; he was on radio, he was on TV and he sang.
In 2004 he appeared on the pan-African Project Fame Academy in South Africa and finished third. Two years later, he released his debut album From Me 2 U. The 17-track album featured some of the biggest stars that will emerge on the Nigerian music scene.
Well, 10 years have passed since From Me 2 U was released and we decided to take a look at the Nigerian artistes that were featured on the album.
1. Dare Art-Alade

Dare has gone on to define himself as a bonafide star, with three more albums and a slew of other business endeavours, including the Love Like A Movie concert series.
2. The Chordwebs (featured on ‘Brown Eyed Angel’)

The acapella group that Dare used to belong to also comprised Bennett Ogbeiwi, Kenny Iwatuje, Nnamdi Amadi and David Bebiem. The group soon was disbanded, with only Bennett Ogbeiwi still actively involved in music as ‘Uncle Ben’ on Project Fame.
3. KB and eLDee The Don (featured on ‘Young Man’)

Both were a part of the Trybesmen trio and made their marks on the music scene before moving on to other things, eLDee more so. They remain part of the Nigerian music fabric.
4. Dekunle Fuji and Ikechuwu (featured on ‘Fuji’)

Dekunle had a short-lived music career before relocating to the US and becoming a nurse. Ikechukwu has gone on to have a somewhat successful rap career, dropping three albums along the way.
5. Blackky (featured on ‘Dear Lord’)

The Nigerian dancehall icon was already in long retirement when he came back for Dare’s album. A short stint at Storm Records followed, but he went right back to retire.
6. Sasha P (featured on ‘Only Whun’)

She would later be known as the First Lady of Storm Records. She had one album and several singles, also earning a bachelor’s degree in Law. She was an Olympic torchbearer for Nigeria in 2012.
7. Jazzman Olofin (featured on ‘Ti Re Ni Moje’)
A couple of popular songs in the early 2000’s with his erstwhile partner Lexy Doo earned him a record deal on Storm Records. He also attempted a comeback last year – but didn’t quite get the buzz hoped for.
8. Nathaniel Bassey (featured on ‘I Love You’)

Pretty much unknown at the time, Nathaniel Bassey has gone on to be a very successful gospel artiste, one of the biggest in that genre.
9. Alaye (featured on ‘Escalade Part 2’)
British rapper of Nigerian ancestry, Alaye was more popular in Nigeria than his country of birth. But his flow was unique enough to get him on major Nigerian songs, like P-Sqaure’s ‘Temptation Remix’.
10. D’banj (featured on ‘Escalade’)
Undoubtedly the biggest name to be featured on the album. It came out after D’banj had staked his claim as the biggest Nigerian star of the 2000’s and his cameo on From Me 2 U was a very nice addition.
No Fields Found.
