Opioids are a type of narcotic pain medication most often used to relieve pain.
Chaka however revealed she’s been battling an addiction to the same medication that led to Prince’s death and she’s voluntarily entered the programme to get healthy and stay that way.
‘Unfortunately, I will miss concert appearances over the summer. However, it’s vital that I put my health and well-being first. I know that I am disappointing some of my fans, but I also know they would want me to recover and be well and healthy,’ she said in a statement released to Associated Press.
The singer was scheduled to perform at the Stanislaus County Fair in California on July 13 but it’s been cancelled. According to reports, she should be back on tour on 1 August.
To date, Khan has won 10 Grammy Awards, including two as a member of Rufus.
