10 ‘suggestive’ songs NBC may ban from the airwaves

Nigerian Radio Stations recently got a memo from the industry’s regulatory body, the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission NBC directing them to use their discretion to stop playing any song with ‘suggestive’ lyrics on Radio. A confirmation of this was recently made by Beat FM OAP, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi.

In time past, the NBC has always come up with lists of songs deemed unfit for airplay which it circulates to radio stations but now they want the radio stations to censor the music by themselves or risk being fined.

At NET, we came up with a list of 10 songs that are clearly ‘suggestive’ and might make the list of songs that won’t be getting airplay on radio going forward. Some are new, others not so-new really.

3. ‘Skilashii’ – Reminisce

4. ‘Expensive Shit’ – Wizkid

5. German Juice – Cynthia Morgan

6. ‘In the club’ – Olamide featuring Viktoh

7. ‘Ukwu’ – Timaya

8. ‘Gbese’ – Lil Kesh

9. ‘Come and Do’ – Cynthia Morgan

10. ‘Twerk’ – B-Red featuring Davido
