Sometimes you feel like, unlike Charlie Shinning, you’re not #Winning. But not to worry, there are simple pick-me-ups available for you!!!
Ready
10. Admit it, Move on from it
When the funk is hanging over you, there’s usually something causing it you are either refusing to acknowledge, or you have acknowledged but haven’t dealt with.
The first step to feeling better and chasing those clouds away, is to actually admit what you’re dealing with. And then moving on from it.
9. Interprete your dreams
I don’t know about you, but I find that if I worry, stress or think about something long enough, sooner or later, it finds its’ way into my dreams.
And while not all your dreams may be worth interpreting (anyone seen Iron Man in their dreams lately?), some dreams hold little keys. So take a minute in the morning to remember that dream and understand why.
8. Walk
Never underestimate the power of a simple walk. Apart from it being a source of great exercise, it also helps clear the cobwebs in your head and like putting books in a shelf, helps to organise your thoughts.
And no, I am not talking about the walk you do while shuffling the brt queue, or with a million people pushing you around. I’m talking about the one you do at night in a gated community (lest policemen arrest you for wandering) or at the beach, or in the morning while others jog.
7. See a movie… By yourself
Yikes. Isn’t this borderline ‘desperate’? Won’t people think you’re… Mad?
Well, which mad do you want? The one people think when they see you stroll into a cinema, buy a ticket and popcorn and sit alone, or the one that happens because you can’t get it together?
Exactly.
6. Take a holiday!
Simple enough instruction.
And if you can’t afford one now, you can take a ‘cheat-holiday’. A ‘cheat-holiday’ is one where you don’t leave the country nor even your town.
5. Buy something
Every girl knows retail therapy in doses works. But buying something can work for both sexes. The secret is to not make it an emotional buy, or go shop-crazy. Treat yourself to a book, tool, gadget, anything you have either always wanted or can use.
4. Write it out
The easiest way to clear your head and get your smile back is to write things down.
Remember when you kept a diary? It could be similar to that. It could also be a to-do list.
Whether it is a summary of how you feel or a list of things to do, there’s a relief that comes from putting pen to paper; or in this age, finger to keypad.
3. Have a power lunch
A power lunch is one where you mix business and pleasure.
Go to a nice spot one of you has been to be before and sit and talk about everything and nothing.
Let it be a productive meeting (make decisions, sign cheques), let it be a fun meeting (eat and drink), let it be ego-boosting.
2. Have some tea
Tea has been known to have a calming effect, almost immediately.
When you’ve got a simple case of the blues caused by selfish drivers, difficult colleagues or conversations that don’t go as you want them to, make a cup of tea when you get home.
1. Do good
Doing something for others, no matter how small, usually makes you happy too.
So the next time you’re feeling blue, do something good for someone else and enjoy the difference it makes.
There’s always something or someone threatening to rain on your parade so take a few steps to get your sunshine back today!
*sips tea*
