Global sports channel ESPN is being sued for $10m (N16m) by a disgruntled baseball fan.
Andrew Rector says he is emotionally unbalanced since he was captured on live television napping during a New York Yankees game, due to comments made about him by ESPN broadcasters Dan Shulman and John Kruk.
He claims that the announcers used words like ‘stupor’, ‘fatty’, ‘unintelligent’, and ‘stupid’ to describe him.
According to reports, the lawsuit was filed in State Supreme Court in the Bronx, New York on Thursday, July 3, 2014. The incident occurred during a game between Yankees and the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Neither the broadcasters nor ESPN have made any comments on the complaint.
