If things had happened differently, rising indigenous language rapper, CDQ would be a member of the Davido-led HKN Gang by now. Unfortunately, he’s inked a deal with another record label by the time the offer from Davido’s label would come.
CDQ was a guest on HipTV‘s Next Rated recently and he explained how it all happened.
According to him: ‘I got a text from Davido one morning, and he was like we should have a meeting. So we set it up and he wanted me to join HKN gang but unfortunately, I already signed to General Records owned by Masterkraft so we couldn’t make it happen.’
But for CDQ, just the fact that the possibility of joining the HKN Gang came his way is a delight.
‘I still look back to that period as one of the biggest surprises of my career because I didn’t expect it.’
CDQ inked a deal General Records in 2013 and together they’ve made a number of popular songs including the hit, ‘Indomie‘ featuring Olamide which also has Davido on the remix.
