Nigerian Entertainment Today has just confirmed that a former president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Mustapha Amego, has been discharged from the Maryland Medical Center, in Maryland, USA where he has been undergoing treatment for Colon Cancer.
According to Amego’s friend, US-based Nigerian journalist and writer, Azuka Jebose Molokwu, the Funky Mallam has been retired to a Hospice care, a medical concept that provides medical services, emotional support and spiritual resources for people who are in the last stages of a terminal illness and also helps the family members manage the emotional challenges of caring for a dying loved one.
Speaking with NET, Amego’s wife, Marie confirmed the development saying ‘the hospital advised that there was nothing more that they could do and that it would be better he spends the rest of the little time he has left with family’.
When asked how much time Amego has left, Marie insists ‘In that regard what the doctors say is not important or acceptable to us that is why we are counting on a miracle with the prayers of everyone. We are praying that he will get better by some miraculous event’.
