Veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani is set to premiere his latest film ‘Maami’ at the main auditorium of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, (OOPL), Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State in celebration of Eid-el- Fitri.
The premiere which has been put together by the governing board of OOPL Theatre and Tunde Kelani’s Mainframe Productions, is billed to hold on Friday, August 17, 2012 with support from former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo who will be a special guest of honour along with Ibikunle Amosun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State and Oba Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu, the Olowu and the paramount ruler of the ancient kingdom of Owu.
The movie will then be shown at some select viewing centres in Lagos to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitri between August 18-21, 2012. The centres include the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, Durban Hotel, Ikeja and Big Zone Hotel, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Kelani recently returned from London where he attended the 2012 London Olympics as part of the activities to promote Nigeria’s commerce and culture to the world.
Maami which stars Funke Akindele is an inspiring story of a poor, conscientious single parent’s struggle to raise her only child, Kashimawo, who, eventually rises to international stardom in an English football club, Arsenal, and becomes a national hero.
