Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel lead the Academy Award nominations with nine nods each. The movies were both nominated for the main accolade, Best Picture but will face stiff competition from American Sniper, Boyhood, Selma, The Theory of Everything, Whiplash and The Imitation Game which has eight nods also.
