Murdered South African goalkeeper and captain, Senzo Meyiwa who was shot dead on Sunday October 26, 2014, will be buried on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in his home town of Umlazi on the country’s east coast.
Announcing his burial arrangements, late Meyiwa’s club, Orlando Pirates, said the funeral for the popular goalkeeper will be partly organised by the local government in the province of Kwazulu-Natal.
The 27-year-old Meyiwa was shot and killed when intruders entered the house of his girlfriend in Vosloorus, south of Johannesburg on October 26.
South Africa’s president, Jacob Zuma, has led the country in paying tribute to the football captain while his team-mates have also expressed their grief upon learning of Meyiwa’s death.
In a chat with BBC, the late footballer was described by South Africa midfielder, Dean Furman as ‘just the nicest guy you could wish to meet.’
