The Ebonyi state native was confirmed dead by his son, Emeka Ibiam on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Sam, who was in goal for Nigeria as it faced United Kingdom in a friendly match in 1949, died at the age of 90 after a brief illness.
During his playing days, he was known as ‘The Black Magnet’ as he represented the Nigerian national team then known as the ‘Red Devils’. He was born on April 4, 1925.
