Ask any Nigerian to list their top five favourite actors, and there is a high chance the name Jim Iyke will pop up before the fourth name is mentioned. The actor who has graced the screen for two decades has maintained the image of a forever young, dark and handsome personality. Many don’t even know the versatile actor would be 50 in a few months.
Born James Ikechukwu Esomugha, Jim Iyke began his acting career in 2001. Since then, he has acted in more than 250 movies. Some of them have been top-grossing movies like Last Flight to Abuja, Merrymen: The Real Yoruba Demons (part1 and 2), Stalker, etc.
On-screen, Jim Iyke has projected the archetype of a Casanova who knows how to woo women with his charm. His acting is so convincing that many think he is genuinely a playboy in real life, he admitted in an interview.
Outside of acting Jim Iyke has his own movie production company, Untamed Productions, which he started in 2007. He also has a music label, Untamed Records, which featured top Nigerian Musicians like 2face and Sound Sultan in its first album, Who am I?
He is also the founder of Jim lyke Foundation for Children with Special Disabilities.
Jim Iyke won the Most Popular Actor in the Net Honours Class of 2019 and won the NET Honours Class of 2020 Most Searched Actor. In 2021, he emerged again as the Most Search Actor winning the award for two consecutive years.
