After ten years of airing on TV, Cowell fears the show has played out itself.
‘In a year’s time we might say, ‘Right, that’s the end of The X Factor. Let’s start something new’’, he told UK tabloid Daily Star.
‘I’d rather fall off the cliff on numbers than deteriorate slowly. We have something in development which could replace The X Factor’, he explained.
Cowell is already planning this year’s edition in a different format; contestants will be able to perform their original compositions. Kelly Rowland and usual suspect L.A Reid have already been announced as hosts
