Just a year after Megalectrics launched its United Kingdom arm of its radio station, it has been honoured with the ‘Best Radio’ award at the third edition of the UK Entertainment Awards on Sunday, November 20 at the Marriott Hotel, West India.
In addition to being recognised as the best radio station was also an award as the ‘Best Online Radio Show’, duly won by Beat FM presenter, Ms. Amanda Star.
The Beat London was up against competing radio stations like Pulse 88, Rinse FM and Juice UK, while its presenter, Amanda Star was up against DJ Milk Tray (Top FM), SNC (Straight No Chaser) and Not For The Radio (NFTR).
The award ceremony was hosted by The Beat London’s presenter, Travis Jay.

‘We are glad to be able to celebrate the power of the radio and how we can connect with our audience on a remarkable level. It is a huge honour to be named the radio station of the year just in our first year and it is worth celebrating,’ an elated Deji Awokoya, General manager Megalectrics, said.
‘We also celebrate our drive time presenter Amanda Star who won the best online radio show and we appreciate her hard work and that of our other staff who work behind closed doors to make the station a success.’
Beat FM London is the first on Megalectrics’ International radio division and it projects African, Caribbean and British music.
Megalectrics (Owners of Beat FM, Classic FM, Naija FM and Lagos Talks) continue in its stride of making groundbreaking achievements since taking over the management of Bang Radio in North London in March 2016.
