Portugal football star, Cristiano Ronaldo will not take part in Portugal’s third-fourth place playoff match on Sunday.
This is after he left the national team camp to be with his newborn sons, citing not meeting the main objective.
In a post on Facebook, Ronaldo wrote, ‘I was in the service of the national team, as always, body and soul, even though my two sons were born.’
The Real Madrid ace added, ‘Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the main sporting objective that we wanted, but I am sure we will continue to give joy to the Portuguese.
‘The President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the national picker have today had an attitude that has touched me and I will not forget.
‘I’m very happy to finally be with my children for the first time.’
Ronaldo now has three boys, with the twins joining his first son, seven-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo jr.
The twins were reportedly born via a surrogate.
Portugal meanwhile will face the loser of tonight’s second semi-final between Germany and Mexico.
