Profound Nigerian filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan is a year older today.
Born on September 30, 1974 to the family of renowned entertainer, Adeyemi Josiah Afolayan better known as Ade Love, Kunle Afolayan has created a niche for himself as one of the most respected movie makers in Nollywood.
Kunle Afolayan has produced 4 movies while his new film, ‘The CEO’, which stars international stars like Jimmy Jean-Louis, Angelique Kidjo and Kemi Lala Akindoju is currently being shot.
Due to his background, Kunle found himself in the acting world quite early in life but made his professional debut in Tunde Kelani’s 1999 movie, ‘Sawore Ide’.
Before venturing into Nollywood full time, Kunle Afolayan worked as a banker but dumped the job to concentrate on his first love which is film-making. He produced his debut movie, Irapada in 2006 which won AMAA Best Indigenous Movie in 2007. His other movies, Figurine, Phone Snap and October 1 have also won several awards and were screened in several international film festivals.
Kunle’s siblings Aremu Afolayan, Moji Afolayan and Gabriel Afolayan are also popular actors in Nollywood while veteran Yoruba actress, Toyin Afolayan better known as Lola Idije happens to be their aunt, being the younger sister of Ade Love.
Kunle Afolayan is married and blessed with 3 kids.
