For most people, a four day weekend that is just upon us is time to relax, unwind and have fun; be it weddings, house parties, birthday parties and so on. However, as easy as it is for anyone to appear in a social gathering, it’s not as easy for many people to observe social etiquettes.
Here are five basic social etiquettes that are important to observe.
1. Be Punctual
Calling or texting to say you’re running fifteen minutes late isn’t as acceptable as being on time in the first place. Try to plan ahead of time with traffic possibilities inclusive so you don’t disappoint your date or whoever you are going to meet.
2. Make use of P.E.T
‘Please, excuse me and thank you’ never go out of style. Saying these depict proper manners and you get respected in return.
3. Reduce your attachment to mobile phones
Put your phones away when you go on a date or go out with a group of friends. You’re with company so there’s no need to focus on virtual people. It’s rude and shows you don’t have your company’s full attention and there’s some place else you’d rather be. Also putting your phone on silent and reducing the screen brightness would be nice in a cinema. The light could distract others.
4. Keep personal conversations and arguments off social networking sites
It’s really tempting to want to share gist or call out someone who has offended you on Twitter or Instagram. But doing that is the online equivalent of fighting in the streets. Never a good thing.
5. Watch your mouth
Some naughty jokes are funny to certain people but don’t think it’s acceptable to all. Some people are uncomfortable with foul language or jokes, so be mindful of your audience.
