Nigerian actor Yomi Fabiyi is rallying for justice once again, announcing plans for another protest to seek answers in the tragic death of late singer Mohbad, who passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023. The actor, who has been a vocal advocate in the quest for justice, is urging young Nigerians to join him in a peaceful demonstration on February 27, 2025.
Fabiyi took to Instagram Live to urge the youth to take a stand. He emphasized the vital role they play in demanding justice for Mohbad and protecting the future of Nigerian students. “It is time for you to stand up,” Fabiyi declared passionately. He warned that without the collective voice of the youth, the investigation into Mohbad’s death could be swept under the rug, emboldening those responsible for his demise.
“If Nigerian students cannot stand up for justice, if they cannot unite with the public and say that the killing of a young person is unacceptable, then don’t blame society if it isn’t there for you when you finish your education,” Fabiyi said during his live session.
Fabiyi urged everyone to come out on February 27, stressing that protesting is a fundamental right. “We all must come out. If we don’t, they will sweep it under the carpet. If you do not come out, they will mess up the entire investigation,” he warned. “If we do not act now, murderers will continue to make a mockery of justice on social media, all while putting your children’s future in jeopardy.”
The actor’s call to action comes at a time of heightened frustration over Mohbad’s death. Fabiyi’s previous attempts to hold a protest were met with serious challenges, including an alleged assassination attempt in September 2023, which forced him to flee Nigeria temporarily for his safety.
With February 27 approaching, Fabiyi is urging Nigerians, particularly students, to unite in this cause, stressing that the outcome of this protest could shape the future of the country. “All Nigerian students must stand up now,” he declared. “If you cannot stand up for something as important as this, then you are losing the country. Where is the future you are going to meet?”
