A Ghanaian football official has been implicated in a match fixing scandal.
An undercover investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Telegraph implicated a Ghana club official and a licensed FIFA agent. The two men reportedly said they could arrange friendly matches involving the Black Stars, who are currently in the World cup, for £100,000 (N2.8m)
The two were also allegedly filmed claiming they would bribe GFA officials to ensure that the contract was signed.
According to reports, GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi had agreed for Ghana to play in two friendly matches, which the agent and the official were planning to fix after the World Cup, but he has denied that in an interview with the BBC World Service
A statement from the GFA said: ‘The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has requested the Ghana Police Service to investigate two persons for misrepresenting the GFA with an attempt to defraud.
Meanwhile, no players from Ghana, who are currently playing in the World cup tournament, have been accused of being involved in the match fixing scandal.
