The Three Lions of England have lost their first World Cup match to Italy.
The match, played on Saturday, June 14, 2014, in Sao Paulo, saw Italy took the lead with Claudio Marchisio opening the scoring, before Daniel Sturridge levelled the game. Mario Balotelli‘s strike at the 50th minute was enough to seal a 2 – 1 victory for Italy.
England will have to triumph against Costa Rica and Uruguay to qualify to the round of sixteen in the tournament.
