Les Éléphants of Côte d’Ivoire have recorded their first World cup defeat.
The match, played on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Nacional, Brasília saw the Ivorian team’s chances of qualifying for the next round being weakened after a 2 – 1 defeat.
James Rodriguez put the South Americans ahead with a powerful header from a corner in the second half of the game, with an additional goal from substitute Juan Quintero pushing the Colombian side to the next stage.
A goal from Roma forward Gervinho couldn’t seal the victory for the Elephants, who won their first match against Japan.
They will have to triumph against Greece in their final group stage match to advance to the round of sixteen.
