The Fennec Foxes of Algeria have lost their first World Cup match to Belgium.
The match, played on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Estadio Mineirão, saw Sofiane Feghouli‘s penalty in the first half give the Belgian side the lead. Manchester United Midfieder, Marouane Fellaini’s 70-minute header equalised the goal before Dries Mertens‘ strike in the second half sealed the 2 – 1 victory for the Belgian national team.
Algeria has joined the likes of Cameroon and Ghana to lose their first tournament game in the 2014 World Cup competition.
The African team will face Korea Republic and Russia in their remaining group matches to advance to the round of sixteen.
