On June 12, 2011, exactly seven years ago, Wizkid released his debut Superstar album which marked the beginning of his journey as a pop star. The Starboy reportedly began to work on the album in 2009 after joining the then Banky W-led EME label and two years later, the 17-track project was released.
According to Wizkid, the Superstar album was originally intended for a Valentine’s day (February 14, 2011) release, but circumstances caused a delay that led to the June 12 release.
Seven years after releasing the album, Wizkid has become more than a Superstar. The Starboy is an icon.
