Out of the blues, ex-label mates Wizkid and Skales decided to come at each other on twitter. Without warning, or prior prejudice that could even suggest that they are at loggerheads, they threw jaw dropping jabs at each other.
It is common knowledge that Nigerian superstars will go to any length to create buzz and hype for their upcoming projects and in the past they have all explored several options of Publicity Stunts.
So, could the Wizkid and Skales drama be a form of publicity stunt?. Both stars have huge projects ahead of them, and what better way to attract attention to themselves and their projects than create this kind of ‘Beef’.
Wizkid had earlier announced that his next single is ready, and it’s the long awaited song that features American pop star Chris Brown.
Since December 2014, Wizkid has released 10 new joints (songs, music videos and collaborations) that didn’t quite get enough attention and grow to become hits, and he sure didn’t want the new song featuring Chris Brown to suffer the same fate, so he probably had a meeting with his PR team and they came up with this?
Skales on the other hand is on the journey to finally drop his elusive and much awaited debut album titled ‘Man of The year’. He has been going about on social media telling fans to anticipate the next single off the album.
His next single features HKN star ‘Davido’, and as an artiste in this very unpredictable Nigerian music industry where over 30 albums dropped in the year 2014 and only a few got buzz, Skales may not want to spare any expense to get all the attention he can on his debut album.
No one is sure for now. But In the coming weeks, more facts will emerge and we’ll know how far they are both willing to go with this.
