Fast rising Nigerian pop star, Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has been in the US for the past few days where he continues his publicity for recent and upcoming albums. Reports revealed that shortly after his arrival, the 21-year-old held series of meetings with civil right activist Al Sharpton as well as other key figures. We’re told the meetings were facilitated by EME’s US reps who are also working on major media and concert appearances for the singer.
Last year, the EME artiste along with his other label mate Skales were reportedly denied US visas, causing the postponement and eventual cancellation of their debut US tour. The EME acts had gone on Twitter to express regrets over the failed tour which was supposed to an opportunity to reach out to their U.S based fans.
As it is now, it looks as though whatever problems there were, have been settled and normalcy restored as Wizkid has made his first visit – in grand style – to the US. He’s also outlined series of events and places to visit with his label-mates before the end of the year.
We’re told he’s back in Lagos this week, as the label finalises plans for a major tour of the United States.
The young entertainer who rose to much fame after the release of his ‘Superstar’ album was recently featured (along with Banky W) in the new series of MTV’s ‘Shuga’.
