Pretty Busy Boys. X-Appeal. Trybesmen. Remedies. Def O’Clan. The Weirdos. G-Vibes. Plantashun Boiz. Styl-Plus. Gosh! Where have all the groups gone?!
Why is it that no one wants to be in a group anymore? The artistes are not even f**king with the labels anymore, and you’re asking about groups?! Duh!
Come, let me tell you why…
- Not enough money to share. Why split N5 concert fees into four when you can have it all to yourself?
- Which label is looking for groups to sign anyway? NIL. Labels have even been known to help break up some groups. Not naming names today, sorry.
- It’s easier to make a hit song. In those days you have to have a lead singer, someone good with adlibs, maybe a rapper, a dancer and one out of all these who can front and own a stage. But, since we no longer make music, all you need today are a good producer and a zillion and one softwares that can mask your (lack of ) voice.
- Studio booths are so small they can’t take everyone. Okay, Just Kidding!
