A few weeks ago, organisers of the Headies award announced plans to hold the 2016 edition after what seemed like ‘forever’.
Before the announcement, fans of the annual award show had concluded this year’s edition will not hold.
Thenetng caught up with Hip TV boss Ayo Animashaun who explained the reason for the delay saying, ‘Well, we were not sure how we wanted to go about it this year, we were not sure of the format and when we were sure, we made the announcement. We are not actually late, it’s just that people expected us to start making noise before now.‘

Asked if the delay was also related to a possible lack of sponsors for the event, he said, ‘People always speculate I would say we like to be tidy before making announcements. On the issue of sponsorship or not by the time we roll out, they’ll know whether we have sponsors or not and if there are sponsors, they’ll see the sponsors come out to talk, I really don’t think its an issue as long as the award is holding because we’ve had years where we had sponsors and we spent far more than we got from the sponsors to put the event together’.

On what to expect at this year’s event, ‘We don’t want to promise anything, we don’t want to make noise we would do as much as we can the best way we can and we would attempt to do a good show.’ he said.
Asked how much it costs to put the Headies together, Ayo Animashaun says, ‘The people that need to know already know there’s no need sharing an information that people don’t really need.’
