The European Qualifier clash between Serbia and Albania on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Partizan Stadium in Serbia was abandoned in the first half following a clash involving a drone-cam which resulted in a brawl between players from both sides.
The brawl took place after Serbia defender Stefan Mitrovic eventually grabbed the banner showing a map of Kosovo with the message ‘autochthonous’ (indigenous), which was flown in by the drone-cam but was seen as a provocative attitude by the Albanians, who took up the fight.
According to reports, the banner portrayed two Albanian nationalist leaders – Ismail Qemali, who declared Albania’s independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912 and Isa Boletini, an Albanian fighter against the Turks.
