The fastest sprinter in the world, Usain Bolt has been credited as a major player in the increase experienced in his country’s tourism sector.
This was made known by the country’s tourism minister, Wykeham McNeil who confirmed that Bolt’s performance at the summer Olympics games will have more effect on Jamaica’s tourism sector as it will endear more visitors to the country.
McNeil says there has been a drastic increase in the number of visitors since Bolt defended his titles in London.
25-year-old Bolt has featured in promotional videos for Jamaica since 2010 and Trelawny, where he grew up has seen more visitors than usual, since Bolt started to shine in the Olympics.
Bolt defended his 2008 record coming tops in the 100m, 200m and 100x4m races in the just concluded summer Olympics in London.
