
There are concerns that American singer and songwriter, Bob Dylan who was recently announced as the winner of the prestigious Nobel Literature Prize will not grace the honorary event.
Dylan beat Syrian poet Adonis, Kenyan literature icon, Ngugi wa Thiong’o and others to the award amid little controversy, but the Swedish Academy says it has given up trying to reach him to confirm his acknowledgement of the honour.

Since announcing Dylan as a deserved recipient, the 75-year-old singer is yet to express his gratitude or if he’ll be present to receive the award in Stockholm on December 10.
‘Right now we are doing nothing. I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough,’ the academy’s permanent secretary, Sara Danius, told state radio SR yesterday, October 17.

Bob Dylan is the first songwriter to win the prestigious literature prize, which Nigerian playwright and poet, Wole Soyinka won in 1986.
