10. The X Factor: Several big music realty show franchises, from ‘Idol‘ to ‘Got Talent‘ have been brought to Nigeria, and the latest one, according to my sources is, ‘X Factor’. Will it give Project Fame a run for its’ money? Let’s see how that goes!
9. Toke Makinwa: Watch out 2013, this is Toke’s year! With her blog, vlogs, radio show and (shhhh) tv show this year, you’re definitely going to get a lot of ‘Toke Moments’ this year.
8. The Not-Yet-25s: It was just Wizkid for a bit. Then Davido. But now, even though the over 25’s aren’t quitting any time soon, music is going to see a lot of work from the ‘younguns’ this year!I’m talking about DRB Lasgidi, L.O.S, Kryptic Kidz, and more. Where are the young girls though?
7. Seyi Shay: I’m loving her way and all she needs is a spark. She’s been pretty good with paying her dues, working hard and making the rounds, and so here’s me watching out for the spark!
6. POP: I love POP.
5. Godwin the Violin Guy: If Amarachi hadn’t been so darned cute, he would have won Nigeria’s Got Talent. But the good news is, winning isn’t everything. He had a great December, performing at different shows like Rhythm Unplugged, so his team needs to keep doing that, and also work on an album with some big names.
4. Ebuka: That guy we know and love. Well, this year, he can be that guy we know and love and see all the time! As the new host of ‘Rubbin Minds,’ I hope people see just how ‘meant-for-tv’ Ebuka is. Give him a show!
3. DJ Spinall: ‘The Cap’. Remember the name.
2. Aramide: Trybe Records soul artiste Aramide looks set to fill a void in the Nigerian music scene if her cards are played right We have the naija-pop and pop divas, but we need some soul!
1. Abibiz: Thursday nights at Abibiz is the new craze, all thanks to Jibola (formerly of Swe) who promotes it.
For those of you who have been looking for her and missing her, by the way, there you go!
Shout out to everyone working hard. These are interesting times
