It crept up on me, you know. One minute, Sunday meant sleep, beach, and ‘The Mentalist’, next minute, I was watching this show I had heard so much about but never given the time of day — ‘The Voice’.
So, why is ‘The voice’ better than ‘American Idol’?
– The Concept
‘The Voice’ has a unique concept. Get judges to judge talent, first based on just the voice. Then have these contestants do a sing off till a winner emerges.
I mean, simple? But genius!
– It’s not ‘X Factor’
‘X Factor’ was great at trying to be different, but even though we liked it, it just didn’t quite hit that spot.
– The voice(s)
I have heard the unique, the powerful, the country, the pop, the rock. I have heard two people take on the same song and make it sound different. I have heard high notes, low notes and new notes.
By weeding out the just okay at the start of the show, ‘The Voice’ presents us with simply the best vocally.
– The Music
The title of the show must be the reason we get so much good music off the show!
‘Story of my Life’ by One Direction recently got a unique take that made me want to go out and buy it!
– Host who?
Who’s the host of ‘American Idol’? Of course you know. He IS ‘American Idol’. After Simon Cowell, that is. But who is the host of ‘The Voice’?
Exactly
The show is about ‘The Voice’ not ‘The Host’.
-Adam Levine
You listen to their music but never know what their personality is like until they judge a show. Adam is sarcastic, funny and lovable as a judge on ‘The Voice’.
– Usher
Usher on the other hand is ‘fly’. When he’s not bringing his Grammys to the show to woo contestants over, he’s wearing blinged out shoes and moonwalking.
We love him!
– Judges Chemistry
And all of that would be nothing without the chemistry the judges have. They seem to, unlike on ‘American Idol’, genuinely love and respect each other. They tease, goof and tweet.
We love the judges!
– All shapes, forms and ages
The music industry seems to throw you out when you’re no longer 25 and sexy so it’s refreshing to see all sorts of quirky, kooky characters on the voice, across all age ranges.
‘X Factor’ tried to do that with the ‘Over 25’ category but I didn’t like that because it quickly pegged those people as ‘over the hill’.
With ‘The Voice’, it’s all about the voice you bring, in whatever body you bring it.
– All the drama we want is on the actual show!
Remember when Paula Abdul got replaced on ‘American Idol’? And how much did ‘J Lo‘ get paid again? Oh, wait, what about the infamous Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey battles?
Grrr!
We spent so much time focused on the judges on ‘American Idol’ that we forgot the contestants.
Not so on ‘The Voice’. All the action revolves around the contestants. Let’s hope it stays that way.
There you have it, folks. Ten reasons ‘The Voice’ trumps ‘American Idol’. Basically, ‘The Voice’ inspires in us now, what AI did when it first swung by!
