This year’s Big Brother Naija has been full of drama. From unexpected twists to unforeseen exits and nail-biting tasks. The Housemates have truly delivered.
Perhaps the drama started slowly no thanks to the lukewarm arrival of the ladies caused by a cheeky prank played by the guys. After that, it was content overdrive with each week generating one interesting conversation or the other. BBNaija has dominated all social media conversations and also spurned several groups, alliances and even permutations as viewers rally support for their favourite housemates.
Six housemates remain in the show on the final week and that itself is a testament to the unpredictable twists that has characterised the show from day 1. No one can deny that each of the six remaining housemates deserves to be there as they brought their A-game to this year’s Shine Ya Eyes edition.
Angel
There is no doubt that Angel’s tenacity came to play in how she got to the final week of the show. She and Pere were kept in a secret white room and given the daunting task to disassemble a toy truck. There she proved she was no pushover and fought for her place in the final.
This fighting spirit has been what has kept her in the show for weeks competing fearlessly in several tasks and entertaining viewers. Her presence at Saturday night parties as well as Friday Jacuzzi pool parties is fun.
Cross
Cross was one of the first housemates to leave a notable impression in the mind of viewers and has maintained this to the final week. A very expressive person, he has not failed to provide a much-needed point of conversation every week.
His relationship or ‘situationship’ with Saskay created the ship, Sascross which ultimately did not sail. He has also had another ‘situationship’ with Angel. He has never hidden his love for chicken and has been very open about how he feels about each housemate. He earned his spot in the final week after he was selected as deputy head of house by Emmanuel.
Emmanuel
Emmanuel was the first housemate to secure a place in the final week after he won the much-coveted ultimate veto power in the penultimate week. Since the beginning of the show, he has been very strategic and intentional about how he has played the game.
His relationship with fellow housemate, Liqourose, has further made him a fan favourite. When Liqourose, on the order of Big brother, picked a ‘fight’ with him and refused to speak with him for a day, his genuine concern and persistence to ‘win’ her back provided much-needed drama and removed any doubt about his sincerity. Significantly, he won the Head of House challenge again on the final week
Liqourose
Before entering the BBNaija house, Liqourose was relatively known on Instagram as a dancer. In the House, however, she has proven to be much more than that. She had a relatively slow start and even admitted to Ebuka, the show’s host, that she took her time getting involved in the game and bonding with others.
Since she found her mojo, she has been on a rollercoaster ride to the top providing much-needed content and becoming a fan favourite. She carried out Biggie’s task so well that viewers were left feeling bad for Emmanuel who was at the receiving end of it. Her execution of the task later earned her and Emmanuel a lovely dinner and made the duo the power couple of this season’s BBnaija edition.
Pere
“How Pere moved from being one of the most hated Housemates to one of the most loved should be studied,” some said on social media. This statement reflects pere’s image in the house. His stern, measured way of speaking and no-nonsense reaction to issues, earned him the nickname, General Pere. However, many got to see another side of him that they probably didn’t know existed.
Pere provided a much-needed foil character in the BBNaija House. He came into the house for the game and has been up to it from the first week. He won the brand new IVM Innoson car after a fierce challenge. His handling of the Saga and Nini’s statement about him came as a surprise to many viewers as while many people expected fire and brimstone in the usual General Pere style, he handled the issue mildly. He even stood with Saga when Nini was away carrying out Biggie’s task and was the first to sense her return.
Whitemoney
Not your typical six-feet six-pack model but Whitemoney has been a fan favourite since day 1. From his grand entry to being the unofficial cook, a tag that sparked tension between him and Pere who saw it as a strategy, Whitemoney has been the talking point of the show.
Some describe him as humble while others feel he is not being real. No matter where anyone stands, there is no doubt that he is one of the most talked-about housemates in the show. His ‘encounter’ with Pere has been a significant talking point of the show with both housemates constantly finding themselves at loggerheads. This has simmered down though but has in no way reduced the drama he brings to the show.
Every single one of the final six deserves to be there as they all gave their best and provided expected content that has dominated conversations everywhere.
The beautiful thing is that viewers have the power to determine which of the housemates walks away with the 90 million naira worth of grand prize on Sunday by voting on the MyDStv or MyGOtv app or the Africa Magic web and mobile sites.
