Actress Stella Damasus was nowhere near the artiste tribute and candle-light procession held in memory of the late veteran, Enebeli Elebuwa.
NET has gathered that she is still nursing some grievances against the leadership of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN). As much as former actor and commissioner for Youth and Tourism in the Delta State Government, Richard Mofe Damijo has tried to defend her absence, saying that Stella is out of town, our source tells us otherwise.
NET investigations reveal that Stella accused the AGN for being nonchalant about the welfare of its members.
The actress/singer reportedly single-handedly carried the late Enebeli’s case to the highest level, making sure his plight was brought to the Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, who shouldered the expense of Enebeli’s travel and treatment.
On her part, the National President of the AGN, Ibinabo Fiberesima, has described the death of the veteran as a big blow to the industry and continues to stress the need for members to take advantage of the special health insurance/pension plan provided by the guild.
When the body of the late actor arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja from India on Saturday, December 15th, 2012, members of the Nollywood industry were nowhere to be found.
Another Nollywood veteran, Pete Eneh, had earlier passed on from a leg infection/surgery complications, with little or no support from the guild.
