The IBB stadium Makurdi on Saturday May, 26, 2012 was filled to its capacity as lovers and fans of music turned out en masse to grace Nigerian Breweries’ Star Trek 2012.
The food basket of the nation as Benue state is popularly called played host to artistes such as Star Quest winners; Crystals, Diamondz, Wande Coal, J Martins, Naeto C and Ice Prince.
Tinsel star Gideon Okeke who was on the show for the first time thrilled the crowd and kept them engaged with a fun dancing competition.
‘I love the audience, they are energetic; being the first show I actually surpassed my expectation and there is more to come‘, Okeke told NET after the concert.
From 11:30PM, Lucy, Naomi – Soul Rhythm Singer, Saint Afro, Rapizo, Eye Six One Plus (Dance Group) all upcoming artistes from Makurdi delivered beautiful performances, setting the mood for a powerful night 12:19 am, Crystals took to the stage, as Makurdi fans screamed with pleasure. According to band member Godwin Inyang, ‘we are glad they appreciate what we do and we actually rehearsed well; they were actually asking for more‘.
Next, Naeto C came on with Yung6ix and DJ Neptune who paid tribute to the late Dagrin. The ‘Ten over Ten’ singer before coming on stage said fans should ‘expect the finest of all my songs, Toni Montana and more‘.
He started and ended on a very high note, with DJ Neptune coming in and out, joining the Storm Records rapper to work the crowd to the max.
When Ice Prince, the ‘Superstar‘ singer came on, he greeted the audience in TIV Dialect, and gained the crowd’s attention from the beginning to the end of his 45 minutes performance.
At 2:10 am, J Martins came on in style -doling out N10, 000 each to two fans. ‘When I go to a place, I like to appreciate people, so the gift is a way of saying thank you. For my performance, I will like the audience to judge but I think I had fun and they loved it, he told us after his set‘.
Star’s Omotunde Adenusi says, ‘Star Trek is the only musical event that has grown bigger and better as the year goes by and more fun still awaits Nigeria as the Trek continues’.
Closing act Wande Coal‘s performance was electrifying, as he treated fans to back-to-back hits from his bestselling repertoire. And he gave them more than music -throwing his jacket into the crowd- and leaving great pleasure on the fans’ faces. Coal ended the night well, and many fans are still thanking him for it…

Actualy, am an upcoming singer/rap artist, in the eastern part of the country. Just wona say i love my big brothers and their stage peformances as individuals. Naija artists are the best. Kudos
