Now, smartphone users have their own lane on a 50-meter stretch of sidewalk in Chongqing, China.
Texting-while-walking can be a dangerous – or at least an annoying – phenomenon and the City of Chongqing in China seems tired of people texting while walking.
So to deal with the issue, the city has made two lanes on a 30 metre stretch road; one for those using cellphones and the other for those who are not using.
National Geographic Channel (U.S.A.) experimented this idea in Washington D.C recently and the Chinese city authority bought the idea and they put it in motion.
Painted on the sidewalk, in both Chinese and English, the sign reads: “Cellphones, walk in this lane at your own risk” and the other reading: “No cellphones.”
