FIFA president, Sepp Blatter has slammed UEFA leaders, saying they lack the courage to take over the governing of football’s world governing body.
With the next FIFA election set for May 2015, Blatter reacted over to criticism levelled against him by UEFA leaders for disrespecting his governance.
Speaking in a recent interview with CNN World Sport, the 78 year old said: ‘I have been asked by the national associations to be our candidate again because nobody that is strong was in. So I go there.
‘All those who want to get rid of me should come. All this opposition is coming now, it’s unfortunate to say but it’s true – it’s coming from Nyon, from UEFA. They don’t have the courage to come in. So let me go on be respectful.’
Sepp Blatter, who is the 8th president of FIFA, assumed office on Monday, June 8, 1998. He succeeded João Havelange and has been re-elected in 2002, 2007 and 2011.
