30 children of Israel-based “Fulfilling Dreams” charity, who live with serious illnesses or conditions, have Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and a group of other donors to that thank for a dream opportunity to go to the World Cup.
Across the globe, the opportunity is something dreams are made of and that dream has come true courtesy of a hefty six-figure sum donated by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and a group of other donors whose donations takes children with serious illnesses to major football tournaments across the world.
With the donation, Gilad Salter, the CEO and founder of the charity, will fund flights from Israel to Russia, hotels and food throughout the week-long stay for the group of 68, which includes 38 carers, where they will see three World Cup games live during their stay in Russia.
The group so far have watched the Mexico and Germany game where reigning world champions were defeated by the North Americans. The group also watched the Poland-Senegal where the African defeated the Polish side 2 – 1 and will watch the group B game between Portugal vs Morocco on today.
“I’m having the time of my life,” nine-year-old Polina Feldman, who suffers from cerebral palsy, told CNN. “I’ve never been abroad before, and football is my life,” she added
Another beneficiary, Zidane Abu, 20, who also has cerebral palsy also told CNN. “I still can’t believe I’m here.” “Going to the World Cup was my greatest dream. All the people around are very kind, asking to take their photos with us, as like we’re the stars.”
Roman Abramovich was granted Israeli citizenship and will move to Tel Aviv after he had issues with renewing his UK Visa which had expired.
