British-Nigerian soul singer Seal’s new album 6: Commitment opened at Number 31 on the US Billboard Charts. After a week in stores, the singer’s new effort has made minimal impact on the charts, pushing 16,800 units.
Seal, Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola, released his seventh studio album in the US on September 28th, 2010 via Reprise/Warner Bros. The album was produced by Canadian producer David Foster, who also produced Seal’s previous sixth studio album Soul.
6: Commitment debuted at Number 11 on the UK Albums Chart as well, becoming Seal’s highest charting album on the charts since Seal IV in 2003.

4k seal 4 not representin naija…. 2 me, since kiss from a rose, he’s been whack
The album harkens back to the Seal of old without Seal imitating Seal. He was successful in reconciling his R & B leanings – which he was never really good at with his thoughtful pop/rock roots and the result is a beautifully produced and written album with a lot of thought and interesting turns plus MANY peaks and valleys.
Unlike his first three wonderful albums where he was lost, probably broken-hearted and in search of truth this album comes from a place of security, joy and hope – no doubt his wife and children have have played an important role in his state of mind and it is beautiful to hear his epiphany. It is this evolution of sound that I had expected to hear from him earlier but lost hope after the last few efforts. That said 6:COMMITMENT is a G R E A T album that I have already got lost in and which I hope that Seal will do more of the same in the future. GREAT WORK!
