Mayowa Ahmed, the ovarian cancer patient for whom a #SaveMayowa fundraiser was launched and supported by Nigerian celebrities, has died.
Here is the message one of her loved ones tweeted an hour ago:
By Allah, in who’s hands our lives is, Mayowa Ahmed has left us in this world. We pray that Jannat becomes her home #RipMayowa

Mayowa’s case gained wide attention, but soon became shrouded in controversy after allegations of the fundraiser being a scam according to actress, Toyin Aimakhu, and the founder of an NGO, Aramide Kasumu.

The former would later apologise, though the delay from the dust raised by the duo, perhaps, had a hand in the death of 28-year-old Mayowa.
May her soul rest in peace.
