
A number of movies are in the works (or talks) to help movie lovers relive their favourite classics. From Police Academy to Men in Black and Tomb Raider, below is a list of 15 classic movies that are getting a reboot or a remake.
1. Flatliners

The 1991 cult classic directed by Joel Schumacher that starred Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland (24) will be rebooted with Niels Arden Oplev helming it this time. The reboot will star James Norton, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev (XXX: Return of Xander Cage, The Vampire Diaries) and Ellen Page.
2. Police Academy

The 1984 comedy was directed by Hugh Wilson and it starred Micheal Winslow, Steve Guttenberg, Marcia Strassman and Bubba Smith. There are talks of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele of Key and Peele producing the reboot.
3. Jumanji
Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce were among the stars of the 1995 fantasy thriller. However, one of the producers and actors of the new Jumanji has said it will be a continuation of the old one and not a reboot.
Jumanji will be directed by Jake Kasdan and will star Kevin Hart, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Karen Gillan, Tom Hollander amongst others.
4. Rambo

The reboot has been titled Rambo: New Blood and will not be starring Sylvester Stallone.
5. Commando

Just like Rambo, the main man of this 1985 action classic, Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be starring in the reboot. Much details are not available about the reboot at the moment.
6. Splash

The 1984 original was directed by Andrew Fleming and starred award-winning actor, Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. The reboot will be directed by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and will star Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell.
7. Charlie’s Angels
The original Charlie’s Angels was a series that ran from 1976-1981. A reboot was made in 2000 that starred Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore with a sequel, Full Throttle in 2003.
The new Charlie’s Angels will be a sort of reboot of a reboot. Details about the cast and crew are not known yet but the fans are hoping for a reunion of the old cast.
8. Men in Black

One of the movies that put Will Smith’s name on the international movie map in 1997, the reboot of Men in Black has been revealed to be a trilogy that will most likely not involve Smith.
9. Murder On The Orient Express

Kenneth Branagh will direct and Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench (007), Marwan Kenzari and Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface, Batman Returns) will star in the remake of the 1974 mystery movie.
10. Sister Act
One of the highlights of Whoopi Goldberg’s career, the 1992 classic will be rebooted but most likely without Whoopi. Screenplay will be by Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullan.
11. Ocean’s Eleven
2011’s Ocean’s Eleven will be rebooted to 2018’s Ocean’s 8 with a major cast turnover. Sandra Bullock will be calling the shots in the Gary Ross-helmed movie that will also feature Anne Hathaway, Helena Benham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Awkwafina amongst others.
12. Scarface
Scarface was first released in 1932 and rebooted in 1983. Another reboot will be produced by Martin Bregman and Marc Shmuger. Details about the cast are not known yet.
13. Time Cop
1994 Time Cop = Jean-Claude Van Damme but sadly, not in the reboot. In 1997, there was a spinoff TV series and a direct-to-video feature called Timecop: The Berlin Decision.
14. Spider-Man

More like a spinoff from Captain America: Civil War, the new Spider-Man will be an entirely new story to be directed by Jon Watts. It’ll feature Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau amongst others.
15. Tomb Raider

Alicia Vikander will play Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider instead of Angelina Jolie who played the character in the 2001 Tomb Raider and its sequels.
