The Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, who was shot dead on Sunday, October 26, 2014, by unknown gunmen while visiting his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, was honoured by thousands of fans who gathered for his funeral service at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to pay their last respect, before he was laid to rest at the Chesterville Heroes Acre cemetery on Saturday, November 1, 2014.
Senzo Meyiwa, who started his football career with the South African Premier League team in 2002, was invited to the South Africa national team last year and was a well loved football star before his untimely death late last month.
The death of Meyiwa is the latest headline-grabbing tragic incident in South Africa since the killing of Reeva Steekamp by her famous Paralympic athlete boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius.
